Regional Superbikes. Round 3 of the Supa GP Series did not go well for the Bike Freight Transport Racing Buell 1125rr. After de-laminating the main drive belt during the 2nd race of the season and having to wait 5 weeks or so for the new drive belts to arrive. Practice on Tuesday went well, just a shake down to make sure everything was ok for the racing on Saturday 28th May. During Wednesday practice there was a distinct clunk from the rear end, pulled in to find the rear wheel bearing had collapsed. Well done to Bearing Man in Montague Gardens for sorting out the new bearings. Practice on Friday went well with an official time of 1:24 odd. Qualifying Friday afternoon on my 5th lap I was held up by riders slowing down after having completed their hot laps so my best qualifying time was a 1:27 odd, not good.
Race 1 saw my on the third row from the back and then I stalled off the line. by the time I had restarted and got going I was a full half lap behind the pack. By lap 5 I was catching the tail ender’s and refused to give up and come in stone cold last so I kept up the pressure and on about lap 7 overtook the first of the tail ender’s. However as luck would have it I then ran out of brakes. So for the last two laps I had no brakes for turn 1 or turn 5 so had to brake earlier and earlier and hope I wouldn’t be overhauled by the tail ender I had already passed, then to great relief the chequred flag came down, and I did not finish last! So new brake pads and a new exhaust for the next race on the 18th June.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
